Djukic: ‘Cordoba will keep fighting’

Cordoba boss Miroslav Djukic says his team will continue to fight for their top-flight status after seeing them go down 2-0 to Malaga.

Second-half goals from Juanmi and Nordin Amrabat in the Andalusian derby means Djukic’s men are now seven points adrift of safety, although the Serbian refuses to throw in the towel just yet.

“Obviously we are in a difficult situation but we are going to fight and fight until the end because there’s no other way,” he told a post-match Press conference.

“I thought their first goal was offside but besides that we didn’t take our chances and that was the key.

“Malaga are a very good team and their counter-attacks can kill you as they have a lot of quality and speed.

“We knew they are a side that wants to play from the centre of the pitch and we tried to shut them down, whilst also looking to get at their centre-backs with Bebe and Ghilas, who are quick, and that was our plan.

“However, they have good forwards and we are not a team that can dominate them. You have to counteract that and unbalance them, but we were unable to do that,” he lamented.
