Real Madrid are ready to accept a €40m offer from Liverpool for striker Karim Benzema, according to a report in Metro.
The European champions already have an eye on next season and are understood to want to bring in another top-class frontman, meaning they may be willing to offload French international Benzema to accommodate him.
The Merseysiders have been desperate to land a new striker following Luis Suarez’s departure for Barcelona last summer and have been linked with the former Lyon star in the past.
However, despite recent criticism from fans Benzema is in no rush to leave the Santiago Bernabeu and said this week that President Florentino Perez ‘treats me like a son’.
The 27-year-old joined Los Blancos from Ligue 1 outfit Lyon in 2009 for a reported €35 million and has since scored 85 goals in 183 La Liga appearances.
