Danilo-Madrid confirmed in Portugal?

Leading Portuguese daily A Bola is reporting that Real Madrid have agreed a deal to sign Porto right-back Danilo in the summer.

According to the newspaper, Los Blancos will pay €30m for the Brazil international, which includes an initial instalment of €10m – a sharp increase on the €20m first thought.

Furthermore, the former Santos defender has reportedly agreed a five-year contract at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Spanish media were adamant last week that an accord between all three parties had been struck, but the move now seems to have been given the green light.

Danilo left Porto’s 4-0 victory over Basel in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie on Tuesday in an ambulance after he clashed with goalkeeper Fabiano.

However, fears of a serious injury were quickly allayed as O Dragoes’ official Twitter account wrote: “have done medical exams [sic], there’s no serious injury. He’s in observations [sic] at the hospital. Get well soon!”

Meanwhile, a report in Wednesday’s edition of Sport details how incompetence on Barcelona’s part allowed Madrid to pip them to the chase.

The Catalan publication claims former sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta’s inability to see out negotiations with the player’s representatives were followed by successor Ariedo Braida’s insistence on speaking to his club instead.
