Ancelotti the best insists Di Matteo

Schalke boss Roberto Di Matteo believes Carlo Ancelotti is unequalled as a Coach and is the best man to be in charge at Real Madrid.

The former Chelsea player was speaking at a Press conference ahead of his side’s Champions League second-leg tie with Los Blancos at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday, and gave his backing to his under-fire countryman.

“Carlo’s a very successful Coach and is someone I know well because he was Arrigo Sacchi’s assistant when I played for the Italian national side,” said Di Matteo.

“He is very experienced and has been at some very successful clubs, while he works well with squads that contain very good players. You would do well to find a Coach who is better than Ancelotti.”

The 44-year-old insisted that Real Madrid are far from a club in crisis despite the recent hiccup in form that has seen them lose top spot in La Liga to rivals Barcelona.

“They are not in crisis. A lot of things happen during a season and they have fantastic quality, so there’s no way I’d say they are going through a crisis.

“People were saying the same things three weeks ago and I didn’t believe it then. I don’t think we’ll be playing a side in crisis this week.

“It’s difficult to assess their current situation but overturning a 2-0 deficit is not going to be easy for us. All we can do is give our best and try to play well.

“I’m very happy to be playing this game as it’s very special, just like the stadium is, but if we can win then that would be sensational,” he admitted.
