Toni Kroos has laughed off suggestions that Real Madrid’s 2-0 victory over Schalke in the Champions League on Wednesday ended a ‘crisis’ at the club.
The midfielder returned to his native Germany for the first time since he left Bayern Munich last summer and helped Los Blancos draw first blood in their last-16 tie with the Royal Blues at Veltins-Arena.
“We expected that Schalke would play this defensively,” he was quoted as saying by UEFA after the match.
“Our goals came just at the right time, and we can by happy with the result.
“Perhaps we played better football in the first half of the season, but if people say that we are in a crisis, I am sure it is a crisis which many teams would love to have.”
