Toni Kroos has revealed that Carlo Ancelotti “was one of the reasons why” he joined Real Madrid last summer.
The former Bayern Munich midfielder arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu after Germany’s victorious World Cup campaign, and he admits the Coach played a key role in his decision to continue his career with Los Blancos.
“[Coach Carlo Ancelotti] put his trust in me from the beginning. I was in a position where I hadn’t played much [for Bayern last season],” he stated in the second part of his UEFA interview.
“I enjoy playing [for Madrid]. Our relationship is good. We communicate well before each game and discuss how I should approach games, according to the opponents we face.
“Ancelotti was one of the reasons why I joined this team. He told me that I’d make Real Madrid even stronger.
"Playing in midfield’s difficult. You have to be versatile, good with and without the ball, defend well, build attacks and engage in 50-50s.
“It’s a difficult position to play and I’m trying to get rid of my weaknesses. I know I can develop further and I’m on it.”
