Ancelotti keeps faith in Casillas

Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Iker Casillas will start in goal for Real Madrid against Deportivo La Coruna in La Liga on Saturday.

The Spain veteran was expected to be replaced by Keylor Navas following his blunder in Los Blancos’ 4-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid last weekend, but the Coach insists changes will be at a minimum when his side host the Galicians this weekend.

“[Lucas Silva] won’t start but it’s a game in which he can get minutes,” he said at a Press conference.

“Physically, he’s ready to play as a starter, but tomorrow I’ll go with [Asier] Illarramendi with [Toni] Kroos.

“There’ll be no change in goal, nether will I change the team much because we have many injuries. Illarra will play instead of [Sami] Khedira, otherwise it’ll be the same team [as the one which played Atletico Madrid].

“Things got really bad during the match against Atletico. I won’t say it’s normal, and we’ve been on a good run and dropped a bit, but we have time to react in La Liga, plus the Champions League is next week.

“I think [Saturday] is the [right] game for us. We must get it right and react well. The match has a good technical, tactical and psychological profile.

“There’s no issue [with our motivation], it’s always at 100 percent. We can lose games and positions, but we’re very competitive.

“Next week will be a very important week, which can tell us what may happen in the future. We must always be at this level of maximum concentration.

“I think Saturday's defeat was most surprising because of how we started [the match. That’s the difference.

“The manner in which we lost the first match to Atletico was that we were a team who had no clear philosophy and new players.”
