Pogba ‘Braida’s first Barca assignment’

Barcelona have reportedly given Ariedo Braida his first assignment – to lay the foundations for Paul Pogba’s arrival from Juventus next year.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Luis Enrique instructed former sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta to pursue the midfielder last summer, only to be given Ivan Rakitic instead.

However, while the Coach was happy with the signing of the ex-Sevilla star, he was also understood to have requested some more “muscle” in the middle of the park.

The newspaper adds that Enrique has identified the Frenchman as the perfect foil for Sergio Busquets, rather than Javier Mascherano, whose future appears to be in central defence.

Former Milan official Braida, who is set to be confirmed as Barca’s new international sports advisor, is due to meet trio Jordi Mestre, Javier Bordas and Carles Rexach for the first time next week.

All four men have been summoned by La Blaugrana to form their new technical committee, and Pogba is expected to be high on their initial agenda.
