Barca could change Camp Nou name

Barcelona are looking at ways of generating more money and are considering changing the name of the club’s Camp Nou stadium.

Akbar Al Baker, chief executive of Qatar Airways, says it is possible the airline’s name may be included in the Camp Nou’s title as a new sponsorship deal is being discussed.

“Everything is possible for our company and we are open to surprises, one of which could be the Camp Nou’s name,” said Baker, at the presentation of a new television commercial for the company in Qatar.

Barca Vice-President Javier Faus, who also attended the ceremony, admitted it was something that was being examined and revealed a new deal is likely, with Qatar Airway’s current sponsorship expiring in 2016.

“We need a new sponsor and we have zero problems with Qatar, so it will be a swift decision,” he said.

The airline put more than €30m into Barcelona’s coffers each year but, according to Sport, the club want another €20m on top of that.
