Mendes reveals Ronaldo asking price

Jorge Mendes believes there would be a buyer for Cristiano Ronaldo ‘tomorrow’ if Real Madrid set an asking price of €300m for the forward.

The super-agent also reiterated his belief that his fellow Portuguese was the best player in history, having recently claimed the FIFA Ballon d’Or for a third time, while he could not foresee the 29-year-old representing another club before his retirement.

“He’s best player and sportsman ever. You can't compare him with anybody else,” he said to BBC Sport.

“Cristano Ronaldo’s [worth]? One billion. His buyout clause is 1bn, so it’s 1bn. If, for any reason, the club decide to sell him tomorrow for 300m, someone will pay.

“He loves the Manchester United supporters because he was there for six years, but he won’t leave Real Madrid.”
