Sergio Ramos: ‘I’m staying at Madrid’

Sergio Ramos has dropped the broadest hint yet that he sees his future with Real Madrid in light of recent rumours he could depart the club.

Ramos was expected to have penned a new deal with Los Blancos by now but contract negotiations have dragged on for some months, leading to fears Madrid could lose him to another European giant.

However, the defender has moved to quash any doubts his commitment lies firmly at the Santiago Bernabeu.

“I’d like to make everything clear in relation to me signing a new deal,” the Spain international told reporters.

“I’m obviously in no hurry as I still have two years remaining on my contract, while neither I nor my agents have spoken to the club.

“They are aware I want to stay here for many more years and I can’t see myself playing in any other shirt than this one.”

Ramos has scored four goal in his last nine games, the same as Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema, and only one less than Gareth Bale.
