Mourinho backs Figo for FIFA role

Jose Mourinho has lent his backing to Luis Figo’s intention to stand for the FIFA presidency.

The Chelsea boss believes the former Sporting Lisbon, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Inter midfielder would do a great job as head of world football’s governing body, while at the same time it would be “a great step for football”.

“I believe in his character and determination, as well as his passion for this sport,” the Portuguese was quoted as saying by Sport.

“He would be a President who focused on football and its improvement in general, as well as working in close collaboration with all the federations.”
