New Real Madrid signing Lucas Silva says he is hoping to follow in Toni Kroos’ footsteps in his time with the club.
The Brazilian, signed from Cruzeiro for €13m, was presented to the fans on Monday and the midfielder also told reporters what kind of player the Madrid faithful can expect to see.
“I’m someone who is confident on the ball and I’m good at playing long passes too. I always try and ensure the team is well balanced,” maintained Silva.
“It’ll be a pleasure to play alongside people like Toni Kroos, who is doing a fantastic job for Madrid, and I’d like to follow in his footsteps.
“Playing in the same side as these guys will make me feel more responsible and fill me with confidence.
“I did a week of pre-season with Cruzeiro involving a lot of physical work, so I’m ready to play and I want to be available to the Coach as soon as possible.”
The 21-year-old revealed that it was the first time he had met Real Madrid President Florentino Perez.
“Today was my first contact with him. He’s given me a lot of confidence. Now I need to pay that back on the pitch,” he declared.
