Real Madrid have completed the signing of Lucas Silva from Cruzeiro on a five-and-a-half-year contract.
The midfielder arrives for a reported €14m and will be presented in the Royal Box at the Santiago Bernabeu on Monday.
Silva has developed into one of Brazil’s most promising midfielders after winning back-to-back League titles with Cruzeiro in 2013 and 2014.
He was also included in the CBF’s (Brazilian Football Federation) best XI of the past 12 months and received the Silver Ball, awarded to the Brasileirao’s best defensive midfielder.
“It’s a unique opportunity, a dream come true. I thank Cruzeiro for approving my personal request,” he told reporters.
“I’m very happy right now. My promotion through the Cruzeiro ranks has changed a lot of things in my life.
“[At Cruzeiro], the whole world could get to know me, see my ability, my football, my person and my conduct within the club. The titles we won were very important to my development.
“[Coach Marcelo Oliveira] knew he could transform me into a great player with potential, as what happened at Cruzeiro.”
