‘No judging Ronaldo for red card’

Carlo Ancelotti downplayed Cristiano Ronaldo’s red card in Real Madrid’s win over Cordoba and focused on the three points.

The Ballon d’Or winner was dismissed for lashing out at more than one of the home defenders when the scores were level. Gareth Bale netted a late penalty to give Madrid three points and it is the win on which Ancelotti was focused.

“We earned three points to stay at the top of the League. We got them with some difficulty,” the Coach admitted, AS reports.

“I haven’t seen [Ronaldo’s sending off]. I haven’t spoken to him about it. I can’t judge what happened.

“Cordoba played a match where they were competing for every ball and playing well on the counter-attack. We suffered to win this game. But we got the three points and I congratulate Cordoba.

“I didn’t like the first half. That’s why I was unhappy. It wasn’t easy to play the ball because the pitch was irregular.

Ancelotti concluded by offering a comment on new Madrid signing Lucas Silva, who was confirmed as a Blancos player overnight.

“He’s a very good, very young player. He will help us because he has quality and intelligence in his game. He will be very useful,” he said of the midfielder.
