Illarra: I want Madrid stay

Asier Illarramendi has insisted that he does not want to leave Real Madrid, despite Lucas Silva’s imminent arrival.

The 24-year-old has been linked with a switch to Athletic Bilbao in recent days, but he maintains he has not been informed by Los Blancos that he is surplus to requirements, although he would consider his options if it were the case.

“I don’t know if [Lucas Silva] has been signed. If he comes and they tell me something, I’d consider it,” he told reporters.

“Today I know nothing. The club haven’t said anything to me, so I’m only thinking about [the game against] Cordoba.

“I’m very happy at Real Madrid. They’ve not told me anything. Today I’m a Madrid player and want to stay.”

Madrid broke their transfer record for a Spanish player when they paid €32.2m to bring in Illarra from Real Sociedad two years ago.
