Barcelona central defender Gerard Pique could be ready to make a dramatic €20m return to Manchester United in the January transfer window.
Red’s boss Louis van Gaal has been rebuffed in his attempts to bring former Manchester City defender Stefan Savic from Fiorentina to Old Trafford and, according to the Daily Express, will now step up his interest in Spain international Pique.
The Dutchman has made no secret of the fact he is looking to strengthen his defensive options and Pique, who made 12 League appearances for United between 2004 and 2008, is top of his wish list.
Van Gaal is hoping the 27-year-old’s previous ties with Manchester may put the Red Devils in pole position to secure his signature, despite reported interest from Chelsea, and that Barcelona may decide to cash in on him.
