Robert Lewandowski says he regrets voting for Cristiano Ronaldo to win the Ballon d'Or instead of his Bayern Munich teammate Manuel Neuer.
As soon as the winner of the prestigious award was announced on Monday the votes of the captains, coaches and media representatives from the different countries were published on FIFA’s official website.
However, Poland captain Lewandowski says he would change his mind if given the choice again.
“Voting for Cristiano instead of Neuer was an error because I’d obviously vote for Neuer now without a doubt,” the striker told German newspaper Welt.
“I voted in August or something and back then…I’m sorry for Manuel and I’m really surprised he didn’t come second, while the big gap to Ronaldo also baffles me.
“Manuel is an amazing goalkeeper and a great person,” he maintained.
