Ancelotti on Copa, Torres & Atletico

Carlo Ancelotti has discussed Real Madrid’s Copa del Rey tie with Atletico Madrid, Fernando Torres and his XI for the game.

Ancelotti was speaking at a Press conference to preview the Cup derby and was asked what he has made of Torres’ return to Vicente Calderon.

“Without playing, Torres has brought excitement to the supporters,” the former Chelsea manager remarked, according to AS.

“He has been greeted with affection. Torres has quality, experience and in this environment, he is one of theirs, and will be motivated and have more desire to do well.

“We know Atletico very well. We have played them many times and we’ve played this season.

“They’re a hard team because of their fight and organisation. We have always tried to do our best to win. They’re one of the best teams in Europe.

“There will be two evenly matched games. I don’t think that will change this year.

“Our approach is always to play with our identity, our philosophy and our quality. Everyone has their idea of football.

“I don’t think there’s any news in this regard. Atletico will prepare for a game with intensity and so will we. The team that wins will earn it on the field.”

Ancelotti also confirmed Keylor Navas would be in goal for the game, and promised to stick with the Costa Rica international for the duration of the tournament.

“Keylor is going to play in the Cup and will play until the end of the Cup,” Ancelotti insisted.

“The team might have changes. There are players who haven’t recovered. But I want to put out the best team possible.

“The team isn’t tired because there was a seven-day vacation. We’re ok and it showed in the final part of the match against Valencia, where we played with great intensity.

“I don’t know what will happen at the end of the season. I don’t think we’ll be tired.”
