‘CAS ruling can motivate Barca starlets’

Luis Enrique has challenged Barcelona’s youngsters to take advantage of the club’s inability to sign players for the next two transfer windows.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport upheld the FIFA-imposed embargo earlier in the week, and the Coach – speaking ahead of Sunday’s trip to Real Sociedad – is hoping his side's youth graduates can make the transition into the senior team, knowing that they will not face competition from any outside arrivals.

“We're not surprised about the CAS decision, but we'd have preferred the decision to be a different one,” he told reporters at a Press conference.

“Nevertheless, it’s great encouragement for all our young players. It’s an invitation for us to see their true levels.

“The CAS situation is new to us, but it doesn’t mean that we can’t get any new players [in reference to promoting youngsters].

“We’re used to convulsive situations at the club. This situation touches us directly, and we must face it. We’re immersed in all the competitions [we’re in] and on the right track.

“[Dani] Alves has played his best football for us over the years and is still very important. I’m delighted with the performances he’s given so far.”
