James Rodriguez has admitted that he feels honoured to represent Real Madrid, claiming his summer transfer was the 'realisation of a dream'.
The Colombian midfielder has been an instant hit for Los Blancos since joining in a £63m move from Monaco after the World Cup, despite recently sustaining a hamstring injury which ruled him out of the Club World Cup.
In a candid interview with Marca today, the 23-year-old confessed he found the whole experience of his presentation at Santiago Bernabeu humbling, as he vowed to continue repaying back his considerable transfer fee.
"The presentation was indescribable," revealed James.
"I couldn't explain in words all the happiness I felt there on the stage with the President, and then on the pitch with so many people. It was the realisation of my dream, fantastic.
"I don't think I'm moving too quickly, the life of a footballer is like this. But despite all these changes, my philosophy remains the same as always: To work hard every day and keep evolving.
"Each player has their own personality, there are no secrets [to be successful]. In the end, it all boils down to work hard and the desire to learn every day.
"It's a pleasure to play alongside all these world-class players, just as it is to play for Colombia.
"I learned a lot about pressure when I was at Porto and Monaco, but now I'm at the best club in the world, and it shows.
"All of my career has been important, but the truth is that I'm now playing for the club of my dreams and I enjoy every moment. That I can't hide.
"I try to improve every day in every way. Tomorrow I'll want to be better than I am today, and it goes on like that forever.
"I thank God for everything that happens in my life. It's clear that I'm privileged."
