‘Ballon d’Or between Ronaldo & Neuer’

Sami Khedira feels the winner of the 2014 Ballon d’Or should be either Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo or Germany colleague Manuel Neuer.

The pair have been named as the final three for the award, along with Barcelona’s Lionel Messi, with the winner to be announced in January.

“The three nominees are world class players with extraordinary personalities,” the midfielder said, AS reports.

“For me the favourites are Cristiano and Neuer. Both have taken their positions to a new dimension.

“Honestly, I’m glad I don’t have to choose the winner. If there could be two Ballon d’Ors…”

Khedira also touched on his future but declined to reveal if he intended to stay at Santiago Bernabeu or if he was looking elsewhere.

“You know my contract is expiring. We’re always in good contact, I feel very comfortable in Madrid and I’m not ruling out staying,” he said.

“There have been no talks with other clubs. I’m curious to know where my future lies.

“It’s been a year where I experienced a lot of things. I didn’t know I would reach the Champions League and World Cup finals, but I was in them both.”
