Athletic Bilbao boss Ernesto Valverde confessed his team had faced a tough task in the 1-1 Copa del Rey first leg draw at minnows Alcoyano.
The Primera outfit had a last-minute Borja Viguera strike to thank for levelling things after the hosts had taken a 32nd-minute lead through Ferron, and Valverde acknowledged it had been a difficult night’s work for the Basques.
“In the first half we dominated and then they scored,” he told reporters at a Press conference.
“Yet in the second half it was precisely the opposite. This was a difficult game to play in and I can’t rate my players only for what they did in this match.
“Viguera’s goal was timely because we were not causing them any danger,” he conceded.
