Ancelotti: Platini should keep quiet

Real Madrid Coach Carlo Ancelotti has criticised Michel Platini for his comments on who should win the 2014 Ballon d'Or.

The UEFA President claimed earlier this week that the recipient of the individual accolade should be a German on the basis of Die Mannschaft’s triumphant World Cup campaign.

However, it is an opinion which is not shared by the Blancos boss, who believes the Frenchman should have remained silent due to the conflicting nature of his position.

"I don't think it's right for him to express an opinion on the Ballon d'Or," Ancelotti said at a Press conference today.

"[Lionel] Messi is showing great ability and is fantastic, but I don't want to talk about him and Barcelona on this.

"I'll just say that he's doing very well."

The Italian appeared to side with Madrid defenders Fabio Coentrao and Alvaro Arbeloa, both of whom accused Platini of undermining Cristiano Ronaldo’s case for the award.
