De Gea refuses to quash Madrid talk

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has refused to dismiss rumours linking him with a return to Spain and a move to Real Madrid.

The 24-year-old, who dislocated a finger in training with the Spanish national team on Friday, is out of contract at Old Trafford in June 2016 and has recently been tipped to succeed Iker Casillas at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Even so, the former Atletico Madrid stopper says he feels wanted at United and tries to ignore the speculation.

“It’s hard to say if Real Madrid will make a bid because of all the rumours that appear in the Press,” he told La Sexta.

“If you took seriously what is constantly written about you, then you’d almost believe you were going to a thousand clubs.

“I feel wanted in Manchester, so the best thing to do is pay attention to where you are at the moment, and I feel loved at United.”

De Gea joined the Reds in 2011 for a reported €20m and was named United’s Player of the Year for the 2013-14 season.
