Barca sanction Montoya exit?

Martin Montoya has reportedly been given the green light to leave Barcelona in January after failing to establish himself at Camp Nou.

The 23-year-old only penned a new five-year contract in May, in what was originally regarded as a clear commitment to La Blaugrana, but following Dani Alves' decision to stay put and the subsequent arrival of Douglas from Sao Paulo, the right-back seems destined to move on.

With the situation unlikely to change, Montoya is believed to have informed Barca of his desire to seek a new challenge and he will have no shortage of potential suitors, with the likes of Liverpool, Inter, Milan and Napoli hot on the heels of the Masia graduate.

Sport reports that Montoya's final straw was last week's match against Almeria, where Adriano was chosen to fill in for Alves, despite the former Sevilla man being predominantly a left-sided player. This gesture was described as 'humiliating' by the Catalan sports daily.

Montoya was a regular under Luis Enrique for Barca B, but the Coach has afforded the stopper just a single appearance since taking over the senior team.
