Real Madrid striker Jese Rodriguez is targeting the Copa del Rey second leg game with Cornella on December 2 as a possible return date.
The 21-year-old has been sidelined for over six months after damaging a cruciate ligament in his right knee whilst playing in Madrid’s 3-1 Champions League win over Schalke last March.
However, the youngster has stepped up his training this week and the return game with minnows Cornella is seen as the ideal time to bring him back into the fold, given Los Blancos are 4-1 up from the first leg.
Club doctors say they need to be convinced 100 per cent that Jese is ready, but if not the Champions League fixture with Ludogorets seven days later will be considered.
Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti told Onda Cero on Monday that Jese ‘would be like a winter signing’ and just before his injury had been full of praise for the Canaries-born player.
“He is tremendously talented and he’s only 21 years old,” said the Italian.
