Jose Mourinho has said Cesc Fabregas shouldn’t join up with Spain as the Chelsea midfielder has a thigh injury.
La Roja have already left Blues striker Diego Costa out of the squad to play Belarus and Germany despite Costa playing and scoring in the win over Liverpool.
Mourinho has frequently complained that Costa returned from international duty unfit for club action and said following the victory at Anfield that Cesc should stay behind too.
“He has a problem in his thigh. He is a great professional and wanted to play,” the former Real Madrid Coach claimed, AS reports.
“Maybe we will lose him for one or two games.
“He can’t go with Spain. Or he can go if he wants, but for sure he’ll return without playing.”
Mourinho also offered further comment on the Costa situation, commending Vicente del Bosque on letting the ex-Atletico Madrid forward take a break.
“Diego is back. Maybe the injury came in handy so he could stop and recover step by step,” he continued.
“Right now he is in good condition and Spain made a great decision for Diego and for us. Now he has 15 days to rest.
“When Spain need him, they will have him.”
