Line-ups: Madrid-Liverpool

Gareth Bale starts from the bench while Brendan Rodgers has dropped Steven Gerrard for tonight’s clash at Santiago Bernabeu.

Carlo Ancelotti has made just two changes to the side that defeated Granada 4-0 last weekend with Alvaro Arbeloa and Raphael Varane replacing Dani Carvajal and Pepe.

Ancelotti had declared Bale fit this week but has decided to start Isco and James Rodriguez in midfield and Cristiano Ronaldo with striker Karim Benzema.

In his pre-match Press conference Ancelotti said that he had doubts whether starting the Welshman after his recent injury woes.

Iker Casillas becomes the most capped played in Champions League history with his 144 starts, one more than Barcelona’s Xavi Hernandez.

On the other side, Brendan Rodgers has made seven changes to the side that lost 1-0 at Newcastle last Saturday, dropping captain Steven Gerrard, Jordan Henderson, Mario Balotelli, Philippe Coutinho and Raheem Sterling.

In defence, Javi Manquillo and Kolo Toure come in for Glen Johnson and Dejan Lovren.
