Karim Benzema says he and his Real Madrid teammates are enjoying themselves after beating Liverpool in the Champions League.
The Frenchman netted the decisive goal – his fifth in four games – against the Reds on Tuesday as Real Madrid qualified for the Last 16.
“We are going through a great period at the moment and we are going to keep enjoying just like today,” Benzema promised in the mixed zone of Santiago Bernabeu.
“I don’t know whether this competition is the one I like the most, but certainly it’s a great one and the one where I score the most.
“I am really enjoying on the pitch at the moment, just like every player. We are all involved in every play. We defend and we attack together, there are chances.
“I don’t know if that’s my best form but I feel at 100% in this club and everybody’s got confidence in me.”
Finally, Benzema was asked about his compatriot Zinedine Zidane, who was given a three-month penalty by the Spanish FA last week for working as a Coach despite not being fully qualified.
Zidane’s sentence was temporarily suspended last week and the former midfield maestro was able to sit on the bench for Real Madrid Castilla’s 4-1 win over Rayo Vallecano B on Saturday.
“I don’t know why he can be a Coach in France but not here. But anyway, if he waits for three months, he’ll then be able to coach again,” Benzema said.
