Ancelotti: Too much Balotelli talk

Carlo Ancelotti believes there’s been too much focus on Mario Balotelli as Real Madrid prepare to host Liverpool in the Champions League.

Madrid took a comfortable 3-0 win from the first meeting between the sides two weeks ago at Anfield with Balotelli substituted at half-time with the Reds already three goals down.

Balotelli was criticised in the English Press for swapping shirts with Pepe as he left the pitch at the interval but Ancelotti feels his compatriot has been unfairly targeted.

“There’s too much talk about Balotelli. He’s a quality player. He’s on a team that is missing Luis Suarez and the Coach has to find out how to play with them,” he said, AS reports.

“Balotelli has the same problems as others at Liverpool and not all problems are to do with Balotelli.

“Swapping shirts at half-time with an opponent is common. I wouldn’t substitute Marcelo for swapping shirts at half-time with an opponent.”
