Carvajal a doubt to play Liverpool

Real Madrid could be without Dani Carvajal for the Champions League game against Liverpool after the right-back suffered a thigh injury.

Carvajal lasted little more than half-an-hour of Madrid’s 4-0 win over Granada on Saturday afternoon before he had to be replaced by ex-Reds defender Alvaro Arbeloa.

The 22-year-old was seen holding his left thigh as he left the pitch and had an ice pack on the affected area while sitting on the bench.

Carvajal had previously played a major role in Madrid’s first goal, keeping the ball alive on the dead-ball line and finding Karim Benzema, who in turn played in scorer Cristiano Ronaldo.

AS confirms it’s too early to know Carvajal’s availability for the fixture with last year’s Premier League runners-up but Carvajal is today a major doubt.

Carvajal previously played the full 90 minutes of Madrid’s midweek Copa del Rey win over Cornella, including a spell at left-back.
