‘Cordoba have nothing to lose at Atleti’

Cordoba Coach Miroslav Djukic has told an interview that his struggling side have nothing to lose against Atletico Madrid.

The newly-promoted outfit go to the champions joint-bottom with five points from nine games and Djukic only appointed earlier in October after Albert Ferrer was sacked.

Latterly of Valencia, Djukic has spoken to Marca about Cordoba’s prospects, starting with the trip to Vicente Calderon.

“We have nothing to lose. We need to be smart and be ourselves. We won’t go there to defend but to show the Cordoba we want and that we will play against anyone,” he said.

“We maintain our principles and our philosophy, because if you don’t have a philosophy you fall down.

“Without defensive strength and aggression you can’t do anything. First, we need to create a foundation and we can improve from there.

“We will suffer this season because that is normal and we should all be prepared for that. I think we will stay up. I don’t know who won’t. We have quality.

“Atletico are a reflection of Cholo Simeone, an aggressive team that believe in what they do with an idea reinforced by trophies.

“We want to be an aggressive team but that takes time. It will be a tough game but we are excited to go to the Calderon and want to be noticed.”
