Marcelo celebration upsets Cornella

Real Madrid full-back Marcelo’s celebration after he scored in the 4-1 Copa del Rey win at Cornella

The Brazilian came off the bench to grab Madrid’s fourth goal and marked it by doing a double somersault in front of his teammates.

However, it has not gone down well with the minnows, who told reporters afterwards that it showed a lack of respect.

“We are Segunda B players who hardly earn any money and his somersault leaves a bitter taste in the mouth,” said Oscar Munoz, the man who scored Cornella’s equalising goal.

“You have to remember where you are. Well, whatever – but later he told me he just had to celebrate it.

“Chicharito also explained it to me. He told me that Marcelo doesn’t score that many goals and that’s why he did it.”

Nonetheless, Cornella President Alejandro Talavera played down the incident.

“Marcelo is a very lively player and everyone behaved extremely well, “he maintained.
