Amaya apologises to Rayo fans

Rayo Vallecano defender Antonio Amaya has apologised to the club’s fans following the 4-0 weekend defeat to Malaga.

Paco Jemez’s men turned their worst performance of the season at La Rosaleda, and former Real Betis central defender Amaya says they are already focusing on the next game against Eibar.

“We have to say sorry to the supporters because they make a tremendous sacrifice and save their money to see the team. We must offer them a thousand apologies” he told Rayo’s official website.

“I’m expecting it to be a long week but we must learn from our mistakes and go out against Eibar champing at the bit.

“Our identity is to have the ball and when we don’t have it we must show some bite. We didn’t do that against Malaga and they were clearly superior.

“We’ve shown we are a good team but going out like we did against Malaga anyone could have beaten us.

“We have to play with the intensity we had in previous games because we are a side that needs that intensity in order to win.

“Now we must turn the page and think about Eibar. It’s a final for us,” he declared.
