Amaya wants to make Betis history

Real Betis defender Antonio Amaya is focused on making history in the Europa League with the club and not regaining his League place.

Amaya has been out of the XI in recent League games but is expected to play against Sevilla on Thursday at right-back, despite normally being a centre-back.

But, he told a pre-match Press conference, he doesn’t mind where he plays and only wants to set new standards with the club.

“I’ve not given up on getting back my starting spot, but [on Thursday] we can make history and we’re going to fight for it,” Amaya said.

“There’s never been a European derby for as long as I’ve lived. It’s palpable on the streets.

“The fans are another player for us but we don’t feel tense when the stadium is full. It’s a joy.

“Right-back isn’t my usual position but I have to make the most of this opportunity.

“The most important thing is the match, for the club and for me.”
