Guardiola linked to Valdes swoop

Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola is lining up a move for Victor Valdes, his former goalkeeper at Barcelona.

Valdes announced over a year ago that he would not be renewing his Barca contract, which expired in June 2014, but tore his anterior cruciate ligament in a game against Celta Vigo in March, which has since ruled him out of football.

The 32-year-old was reportedly being lined up for a move to Liverpool, but according to German newspaper Die Welt, Guardiola is ready to make a move to bring him to the Allianz Arena.

Guardiola is having problems with his goalkeepers at Bayern, both Pepe Reina and third-choice stopper Tom Starke having picked up injuries, and he reportedly sees Valdes as an emergency solution.

It is understood that initial contact has already been made and there seems to be a willingness on both sides to make the deal happen.
