David Villa made a scoring start to his Melbourne City career, coming off the bench to score against Sydney FC.
The game ended 1-1 with Villa getting Melbourne’s second half equaliser, having been brought on after 48 minutes.
Villa netted just past the hour to cancel out Corey Gameiro’s opener, while Sydney later hit the crossbar as they pushed for a winner.
The former Spain international is spending a short time in Australia on loan from sister club New York City after leaving Atletico Madrid at the end of the season.
