Gigi Buffon rued the lack of risk his Juventus side were prepared to take in the 1-0 Champions League defeat to Atletico Madrid.
Arda Turan scored the only goal of the game, the first Buffon has conceded all season between Serie A and European competition, but the Italy international goalkeeper felt his team were not adventurous enough on the night.
“It was an even game in which we were not inferior. We might not have created a lot but a draw was more than fair,” Buffon told Sport Mediaset.
“Atletico are a team that has become a reality in Europe, whose strength is solidity and counter-attacks, and are part of the continent’s elite clubs.
“But from our point of view we need to look at ourselves, to improve and annoy our opponents a bit more when we are away from home.
“It’s also true that if we want to take a step forward and gain our maturity in Europe then we need to take more risks on our travels,” he declared.
