Rayo Vallecano midfielder Raul Baena insists his side are planning to surprise Barcelona at the Campo de Futbol de Vallecas on Saturday.

The Malaga-born 25-year-old is convinced with the weapons at Rayo’s disposal they are more than capable of taking something from the League leaders.

“We all know it’s a game that a lot of people will be following as it’s against one of the best teams in La Liga, Europe and the world.

“But we are all aware we’ll need to play very, very well to get a good result, and that’s what we’ll be trying to do,” he told a Press conference.

“We won’t be going into this game like a small-town team because we’ll be trying to win, and we won’t do that by not being brave.

“Last year we managed to get the ball off them but the result went in their favour. This time we’ll try to take both the ball and the points,” said Baena, who refused to single out any Barca player for particular attention.

“They have several players who can make a difference with just one pass or a turn. Messi is one of them but they have lots more.

“We must be very careful not to let them breathe so they are less than comfortable on the ball.”

Paco Jemez’s men go into the game on the back of two straight wins – over Athletic Bilbao and Levante – and will not be short on confidence.

“Whenever you win games it gives you more confidence and the points picked up makes you more relaxed about the next match.

“Therefore, we’ll be taking that into this game and hoping to notch our third consecutive victory,” warned Baena.
