Real Madrid are reportedly close to agreeing a deal to sell the naming rights to the Santiago Bernabeu stadium.
AS claim Fly Emirates, the club’s current shirt sponsor, will have their name officially attached to that of the stadium, although the financial details of the agreement aren’t yet known.
One of three names is expected to be confirmed – Fly Emirates Santiago Bernabeu, Bernabeu Fly Emirates or Bernabeu Fly Emirates.
Madrid intend to use the money received from selling the stadium’s naming rights to conduct improvement works on the stadium.
President Florentino Perez is thought to have valued the naming rights at between €400m and €500m. A portion of that money would be spent on the stadium and the rest would be used to pare down the club’s €602m debt.
Any naming rights deal has to be approved by the club’s General Assembly, which meets this weekend.
