Sevilla director of football Monchi is to quit his role at the club and will hand in his resignation on Thursday.
“It’s a decision I took some time ago. I had already communicated it [to the board] then, but as we had been through a turbulent summer I decided to stay.
“Now, I am going to make it effective at the first board meeting of the season,” Marca quotes him as saying.
Monchi [pictured, right] resigned as a director following the departure of former President Jose Maria del Nido last December, and even suggested leaving the club to focus on his training centres in London.
However, at the request of new President Jose Castro he remained at the Sanchez Pizjuan in a sporting capacity.
