Alessio Cerci doesn’t expect the pressure of representing Atletico Madrid to be too great despite joining the champions.
Cerci was confirmed as an Atletico player shortly before the close of the transfer window and was yesterday officially presented by Los Colchoneros.
He told a Press conference that he is ready for what Diego Simeone asks of his players as at Torino, he had to do his share of defending as well.
“Torino had a close team. We in the attack helped the defence a lot and learned a lot,” AS reports the Italy international as saying.
“In football today you have to attack and defend. From that point of view I am prepared to help the team regain the ball. I don’t think I’ll have trouble defending.
“I wanted to come to Atletico. My desire was very strong. My dream was always to play for a club like this.
“I get to contribute to a special group with a great Coach. I’ll face this adventure with enthusiasm and strength.
“I like to score and create. For me the important thing is to be myself because that’s the way I’ll get goals and assists.
“When you’re signed by a big club the pressure is strong. Atletico is a top club and it’s normal pressure.
“I’m not going to be affected by it and I’ll just give my all. I hope for a lot of pressure as it doesn’t scare me, it motivates me.”
