Atletico Madrid have officially released former Italy attacker Alessio Cerci on a free transfer.
Cerci joined Atleti from Torino in the summer of 2014 for €15m but played just 11 times for Los Rojiblancos in a three-year spell that included loan spells at Milan and Genoa.
Consequently, the decision has been taken not to extend the 30-year-old’s contract.
“Alessio Cerci and our club have reached an agreement for the termination of the contract that had linked both parties since September 1 2014,” read a statement on Atleti’s official website.
“Our club wants to wish Alessio Cerci luck in his next professional endeavour.”
Cerci has been linked with Las Palmas, Greek champions Olympiakos and a return to Serie A.
