Sir Alex backs ‘Chicharito’

Former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has backed Javier Hernandez to be a success at Real Madrid.

The Scot was responsible for bringing Hernandez, nicknamed ‘Chicharito’ or ‘little pea’, to Old Trafford from Mexican outfit Guadalajara in April 2010, and the player responded with 20 goals in his first season for the Red Devils.

However, Hernandez failed to impress new United boss Louis Van Gaal this summer and has now joined the Spanish giants on a season-long loan.

Nonetheless, Ferguson feels his former player has what it takes to make his mark in Spain, and even revealed that the 26-year-old always dreamed of wearing the famous white shirt of Madrid one day.

“Hernandez will do well in Madrid. I’m sure he will score lots of goals,” Ferguson was quoted as saying by Tutto Mercato.

“He concentrates very hard and his dream has always been to play for Real.”
