Ramos: Del Bosque the right man

Sergio Ramos believes Vicente del Bosque is still the right man to lead Spain into a new era after the disappointment of last summer’s World Cup.

The Spanish Coach has faced questions about his future since his side’s woeful showing in Brazil, where they were eliminated at the group stage, but Real Madrid defender Ramos is convinced Del Bosque is the best person to oversee the transition.

“There has been a general change, with some players deciding they didn’t want to continue after so many years, and you must respect that, but it is the Coach who makes the decisions.

“We are going to be with him until the death because he has accomplished so much, yet it is he who decides who will carry on and after that we’ll see the performances and results. He is the best man to face this new era,” Ramos told a Press conference ahead of Spain’s friendly with France in Paris on Thursday.

Ramos added that he considered the arrival of new players into the squad had given it an injection of fresh quality.

“The group is looking very good. It’s a new cycle with footballers who are living a new experience. Those of us who have been here longer will try to help them adapt as quickly as possible.

“They are keen, learn quickly and want to maintain our football philosophy. We have a lot of quality players.”

As for the game against the French, Ramos is hoping it can help La Roja regain confidence and is treating it as an official game.

“We need to regain confidence as soon as possible. We have to treat it as an official match. For Spain there are no friendlies,” he declared.
