‘Be patient with James and Kroos’

Former Real Madrid defender Roberto Carlos has called on the club to be patient with new signings James Rodriguez and Toni Kroos.

Madrid have been active this summer in the transfer market, signing James, Kroos and Keylor Navas and Carlos praised the business done but asked that they be given time to settle.

“[Florentino Perez] is signing players of the highest level which is very important,” Carlos told an interview with Marca.

“Now is time to adapt and you have to be patient with the players who have come in.

“Opposition teams will want to beat Madrid even more, for all its history and success.

“Madrid have a lot to prepare this season because this season will be more difficult with everything they’ve got.”

Madrid’s squad today has been compared to the Galatico squad of which Carlos was part in the last decade.

Carlos warned that the tag and the big-name players in the side made life more difficult for the club, giving their opponents added impetus to raise their game.

“At that time it wasn’t good because all the teams were 100% both in and out of Santiago Bernabeu,” he recalled.

“This will be more complicated than last season.”
