Martino set for Argentina job

Lionel Messi and Javier Mascherano look set to be reunited with Tata Martino, as the former Barcelona boss is expected to be named Argentina Coach.

Martino was in charge for just season at Camp Nou, as the Blaugrana failed to lift a single trophy under his guidance.

But despite that chastening experience in Spain, the 51-year-old is the favourite to succeed Alejandro Sabella.

“Our first candidate is Martino,” AFA secretary Miguel Silva told reporters.

“If we agree with the economic issue and the agreements that everyone seeks, Martino will be the new Coach.”

Sabella resigned as Argentina boss following their 1-0 defeat to Germany in this summer’s World Cup final.
