Reina close to Bayern move

Spain international Pepe Reina is expected to complete a €3m move from Liverpool to Bayern Munich.

AS reports that Bayern are searching for experienced back-up to Manuel Neuer and Reina fits the bill, having become surplus to requirements at Anfield.

Reina spent last season on loan at Napoli but Karl Heinz Rummenigge, the German club’s chief executive, has confirmed Reina is to join the Bundesliga champions.

“We have agreed our new goalkeeper is Reina,” he said while on Bayern’s tour of the United States.

“He has a lot of experience and wants to come to Munich, although Neuer is the No.1.”

Reina leaves Liverpool after nine years, moving to the Premier League from Villarreal after starting his career with Barcelona.

The 31-year-old made almost 400 appearances for the Reds and upon signing a three-year deal in Germany, will become the fourth Spaniard in Guardiola’s squad, alongside Javi Martinez, Thiago Alcantara and summer signing Juan Bernat.
