James ‘hopes Falcao joins Madrid’

James Rodriguez has said he hopes Colombia teammate Radamel Falcao joins him at Real Madrid and Juan Cuadrado goes to Barcelona.

Madrid signed the World Cup Golden Boot from Monaco shortly after the tournament came to an end, James following Toni Kroos to Santiago Bernabeu.

James was interviewed by Colombian radio and touched on Falcao and a number of his other international colleagues, as well as his future with Los Blancos.

“I’m sure Falcao can play here. But I’m not the one who decides whether or not he is going to,” AS reports James as saying.

“It’s up to the President. It might happen because he has the quality and attitude.

“I’ve been playing alongside him for four years. We stopped when he joined Atletico Madrid. He has a winning mentality and that’s what you want at Madrid. Hopefully he can come.”

James hasn’t been the only Colombia player to be on the move this summer, or linked with a big-money transfer, as David Ospina – James’ brother-in-law – has joined Arsenal and Cuadrado has been linked with Barca.

“Hopefully [Cuadrado joins Barca] as he is a great friend of mine. It can open doors for Colombians as we would join other big clubs,” he added.

“I’m glad Ospina has joined Arsenal. He’s a great goalkeeper and a good person. I hope he succeeds at that great club and I believe he has the quality to start there.”
